Should Carlito Leave The Judgment Day? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to our latest eWrestlingNews Inquiry of the Day!

The question of whether Lio Rush (or another wrestler) should become part of MVP’s Hurt Syndicate in AEW was our topic yesterday. Today, we’re discussing the possibility of Carlito exiting The Judgment Day based on hints dropped by WrestleVotes. In other words, we’re focusing on a wrestler possibly departing a faction and the potential implications.

The question on the table for today is “Should the WWE decide to remove Carlito from The Judgment Day? If so, what moves should he make next?”

We look forward to hearing from you so make sure to post your thoughts in the comments section below.

My take on this…

Discarding Carlito from the group could be a worthwhile direction to head in, depending on the plans for the upcoming months and WrestleMania 41. I’ve never been overly enthusiastic about his inclusion in The Judgment Day personally.

I agreed that LWO was an overly large faction, leading to the sidelining of Carlito. I’ve always favored him as a villain and thus was pleased to see him turn heel. However, switching him to The Judgment Day basically replicated his previous role, only in a new group.

Initially, I wondered why Dominik Mysterio didn’t also exit and form a new group with Carlito. Now, that course of action seems less feasible due to multiple shifting elements and it doesn’t seem likely, given the storyline’s direction.

In my perspective, there are mainly two alternatives. They either explore a romantic storyline between Carlito and Raquel Rodriguez, which allows them to form a team opposite Dirty Dom and Liv Morgan. Meanwhile, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh could continue as the tag team champions. However, this narrative doesn’t appeal much to me nor do I anticipate significant advantages from this setup. The other option is Carlito’s departure from the team.

As I look towards Mania, I struggle to see a clear role for Carlito. It’s unlikely he’ll be a priority. Dom might have a match, possibly involving multiple participants. Balor and McDonagh might still be the tag team champions. If The Judgment Day and The Wyatt Sicks don’t face off, Carlito’s likely to end up as just another participant in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

If the match up between the two factions doesn’t materialize, then it’s time for Carlito to part ways with the group and carve a different path for himself.

I propose sending him to NXT which, although seeming like a demotion, would provide him with a new, fresh environment to work in. He could mentor the younger talents there while possibly clinching the North American Championship. Alternatively, he could identify a promising youngster as a tag team partner, and potentially secure the NXT tag team championship. While no current talent comes to mind, past surprises like his pairing with Chris Masters have proven to be wildly entertaining. He might form an excellent team with Lexis King, Eddy Thorpe, or Javier Bernal for instance.

What do I foresee happening? I suspect WWE will retain him in the group and arrange a match with the Wyatt Sicks at WrestleMania 41, or he’ll remain in the group but gradually be sidelined. It could lead to him leaving the group during a post-Mania major overhaul of The Judgment Day, as they gear up for the 2025 WWE Draft. I don’t predict him remaining part of the group by May 2025, but he’s unlikely to be removed by the end of 2024.
