Shotzi Blackheart‘s trademark tank wasn’t the result of a well-thought or carefully constructed plan, she saw it in a store one day and thought it looked cool. As it turns out, she was totally right.

Blackheart has one of the most unique presentations on WWE television and she’s enjoyed notable experiences like hosting Halloween Havoc and competing in WarGames. Coming to the ring on her own custom tank, the higher-ups in NXT have shown to have confidence in her character. Before she had the one they made for NXT, Shotzi was coming out on a toy tank, which was the same tank she had on the indies (and the same one that would ultimately be destroyed by Candice LeRae). Speaking to Taylor Wilde on Wilde On, Blackheart reveals that the original tank wasn’t very hard to come by as it was actually a simple Walmart purchase.

“So, I actually came out on that tank on the indies. That is my tank. I just saw it at Walmart one day and I’ve always come out with the helmet and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I already wear the helmet, this little tank is super cool!’ So, I got it. I brought it with me to Florida when I got signed, which my boyfriend was super annoyed with because traveling with it was a pain in the butt. He’s like, ‘They are not going to let you use this, why are you bringing it?’ and I’m like, ‘No, I’m stuck. I’m going to pitch this.”

To Blackheart’s surprise, it didn’t take much of a pitch for those in NXT to allow her to use the tank on television.

“Just one day, I was like, ‘Hey, so I have this tank. Check it out.’ They were just like, [and it was] randomly, a day before TV, they were like, ‘Hey, can you bring this over to Full Sail?’ I was like, ‘Yes! Yes, I will make it happen!’”
