Shotzi Blackheart – ‘I Would Love To Sign With AEW – Tony Khan Treats His Talent Well’

Shotzi Blackheart, popular wrestling star, recently laid bare her feelings about her release from WWE and her upcoming plans, on a recent episode of “The Ariel Helwani Show.”

She declared her intent to return to WWE at some point, but also voiced her openness to wrestle for companies like AEW and TNA Wrestling. Blackheart provided insights into the reasons for her exit from WWE, and showed enthusiasm for the next phase of her wrestling journey.

Highlights from the podcast can be found below:

On whether she knows why her contract wasn’t extended: “Regrettably, I don’t know and I might never know. I guess that’s just how it goes. Even though they cut me, WWE doesn’t owe me any explanations. That’s the nature of show business I suppose. They clearly believed I wasn’t worth the investment, and I can accept that.”

On her plans of joining another wrestling organization full-time: “Absolutely, yes. I’m fond of TNA, and AEW too… AEW is my top choice for a multitude of reasons. I appreciate their values, I have numerous friends there who are accomplishing fantastic things. I’ve heard glowing reports about how Tony [Khan] treats his wrestlers. His care for his wrestlers is vitally important to me… and the fact that women are encouraged to be themselves is a bonus [laughs].”

On who she would like to compete against in AEW: “Athena is the first one that comes to mind. I truly believe she’s top-tier, potentially the best female wrestler globally. I respect her tremendously. Not just because of being tag team partners, but because she’s incredibly talented and we have never competed one-on-one before, so I would love that opportunity. But also Mercedes Moné… and definitely Toni Storm. Just thinking about the promos she could deliver gets me excited. She is on fire. But I don’t want to be signed to AEW just because of my history with WWE. I want to prove myself. That’s why I want to dominate on the indie circuit and if I can do that throughout the year, then I’m all in.”

On whether she would entertain returning to WWE: “Absolutely, coming back to WWE would be something I’d enjoy. I had a great experience working there. The only issue would be not being utilized enough. The times I was booked were all fantastic. Loved the backstage camaraderie, and enjoyed working with everyone there. Bottom line is that I wouldn’t want to return just to sit on the sidelines.”
