Being a pro wrestling fan is often characterized by tribalism, but All Elite Wrestling (AEW) wrestler, Shelton Benjamin, has no interest in engaging in heated discussions about which promotion is superior.

Benjamin came on board with AEW this year, a little over 12 months following his departure from WWE. He is a one-time U.S. and former Intercontinental Champion during his tenure with WWE.

In a recent episode of the “Gabby AF” podcast, the wrestler openly discussed the concept of tribalism and his decision not to be agitated by it. He expressed,

“The entire thing about tribalism… I grasp it. It’s like Coke competing with Pepsi, or Disney with Warner Brothers. I understand that dynamic. However, for me as an entertainer, I don’t let that affect me. That’s a debate for the fans to have. My support does not lie in tribalism. Instead, I am dedicated to promoting exceptional talent, and to giving men and women the chance to display their prowess. My desire is to see everyone achieve.”

Thus far, Benjamin’s record in AEW proves flawless, notching victories over the likes of Lio Rush and Sammy Guevara.

In the same podcast, Benjamin also spoke on the possibility of a WWE Hall of Fame induction. To hear what he had to say about this, click here.
