Recently on the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, Shelton Benjamin shared his thoughts on various topics. He delved into his bond with Bobby Lashley, and likened The Hurt Syndicate to popular Marvel group, The Avengers.
Here are a few standout moments from Shelton Benjamin’s podcast session:
Benjamin spoke fondly of his friendship with fellow wrestler Bobby Lashley: “Choosing my close friends isn’t just about respecting their professional abilities. Take Bobby, for example. Watching him spend quality time with his children, seeing his dedication, it’s inspirational. As a father myself, such things do not go unnoticed. Observing his relentless work ethic, those are the qualities I identify with. After all, like attracts like.”
Benjamin also revealed the kind of people he prefers to spend his time with: “When I encounter someone who puts in so much effort and is devoted to his profession and family, those are the people who I aspire to surround myself with. Those attributes are what I aim to replicate. Bobby and I have had numerous matches in the past, so our friendship was naturally consolidated through those experiences. Now, we are like a dynamic duo.”
When asked about the parallels between The Hurt Syndicate and the Avengers, Benjamin shared, “The easiest way to explain our group dynamics, think of The Avengers. MVP would definitely be Tony Stark, I would classify myself as a mix of Thor and Captain America. Bobby, without doubt, is The Hulk [laughs]. That’s how I like to describe us.”
