Sheamus recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump, and he shared his thoughts on Drew McIntyre’s upcoming WWE Championship Match with Goldberg. The champion accepted Goldberg’s challenge on WWE RAW this past week, and Sheamus said this showdown could become another feather in McIntyre’s cap. But he also acknowledge the negative reactions surrounding the announcement.
“There’s a lot of people that are angry about it, you know what I mean, like they’re saying…there’s a lot of ‘Old-berg’ comments and stuff like that, and, ‘Bill Goldberg doesn’t deserve an opportunity,'” said Sheamus. “But he gets Drew. I mean, Drew said last week, it’s like him facing his dad, you know?
“Goldberg is somebody, you know, he definitely did set the world alight back in WCW when he first came out, and he brought this new element to destroying people in short amounts of time, and going on the streak. He does keep himself in great shape, and you know, I don’t think this is gonna be a bad match for Drew, you know what I mean? I think it’s another opportunity for Drew to cement his legacy by going in against people like Goldberg and ultimately beating them. Maybe he can do a Goldberg on Bill, maybe he can take him out pretty fast.”

As for “The Celtic Warrior” himself, he’s looking forward to the Royal Rumble Match as his opportunity to earn a title shot. He also expressed some interest in entering the match as the first entrant.
“The Rumble itself for me, I wouldn’t mind going in there at number one,” said Sheamus. “Maybe I’ll last the hour, [and be] an Iron Man, you know what I mean?”
Fans will have to wait and see how the Royal Rumble unfolds. But for now, it seems like McIntyre and Goldberg will clash at the pay-per-view.
