Shayna Baszler may be a professional wrestler for WWE, but the promotion did not want fans to think that when she arrived on the main roster.

After a dominant run in NXT, Baszler was officially called up to the main roster in 2020 and is a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Speaking to “Ring the Belle,” Baszler recalled Vince McMahon wanting her to use her MMA background instead of traditional wrestling moves. She said,

“He said ‘You have something everyone else doesn’t do. I don’t want you to do any pro wrestling’. Which was kinda confusing because then the next match [when I followed his instructions] he was like ‘What was that?’ It was a little bit of a transition to understand, you know. I think just the communication and style I was used to was different coming up. So it took a little bit.”

Baszler will team with Ronda Rousey on the May 29, episode of RAW as part of a fatal four-way to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
