Shawn Michaels Reflects On WM 23 Match Against John Cena, Nick Aldis Burns Chelsea Green

In a recent conversation with ESPN, WWE icon Shawn Michaels looked back on his face-off against John Cena for WrestleMania 23.

The final match of WrestleMania 23 witnessed Cena successfully guarding his WWE Championship against Michaels.

Before the event, the duo had shared the WWE World Tag Team Championships.

During his chat, Michaels mentioned his ambitions for his match with Cena.

He put across, “For me, it was a brilliant chance to help cement John’s position as our top talent and the future of the company. You deal with two kinds of people in this position – those who would prefer to be in your place, and those who support you. At that stage of my career, I was completely committed to delivering the best match possible with John.”

Michaels further conveyed, “I always made a point to be fully ready for any WrestleMania match. When I was competing with John, I didn’t know what the future held for me. If you call yourself Mr. WrestleMania, you have to live up to that reputation. I was determined John and I would give it our all irrespective of how good he was at the moment. My aim was for him to surpass his best that night, which is what I expected from myself and from my opponents. John was aware of this and took it very earnestly which I have always appreciated about him.”

Elsewhere, Nick Aldis made a disparaging comment about Chelsea Green in the aftermath of her beat by countout to Zelina Vega in WWE SmackDown.

Prior to her loss, Green lethargically made her way to the ring after executing a major move.

Aldis, in a humorous Twitter post on Monday, compared Green’s situation to Katy Perry’s 10-minute space journey — hinting that Green spent more time outside the ring than Perry did in space.

His comment read, “Katy Perry’s space trip was shorter than the time you spent outside the ring last Friday night.”
