Shawn Michaels, Head of WWE NXT, is gearing up for the brand’s debut on The CW Network, and the show is set to take place in Chicago, renowned for its fervent wrestling audience.
Michaels recently spoke about NXT’s big leap to broadcast television on an episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast. In the course of the conversation, he noted, “It’s a big move for us. Moving to broadcast television is absolutely huge for us and the talent’s excited. They’re excited to go to Chicago and launch the show. It’s a fantastic atmosphere at the Allstate Arena so everyone’s jazzed about going.”
According to Michaels, Chicago is home to one of the country’s most notoriously passionate wrestling fan bases. This enthusiasm makes it the ideal setting for the gold brand’s premiere show.
The much-anticipated inaugural show will feature fierce competitions for the NXT and NXT Women’s Titles, in addition to a Street Fight showcasing Wes Lee and TNA’s Zachary Wentz.
Shawn Michaels praised the city of Chicago, saying the city is known for having a dedicated and vocal fanbase, adding to the excitement of the night.
The event will be made even more memorable by the presence of CM Punk, who hails from the very same city. He is slated to be the guest referee for the tussle between NXT Champion Ethan Page and Trick Williams.
