During an episode of the popular podcast “Busted Open Radio”, Shawn Michaels, a WWE Hall of Famer and the head of NXT, shared his thoughts on whether current WWE NXT Women’s Champion, Roxanne Perez, was in line for a promotion to the main roster.
Below are key points from his interview on the podcast:
When asked if Roxanne Perez stands a chance of being promoted, Michaels had this to say: “That’s a challenging decision to make. I believe she has the potential. What I can express is this, I concur with you fellows, that perhaps a couple of months prior, during one of those pivotal times in your career, you have a match, and a lightbulb moment ensues. Everything starts to become a bit clearer after that. This realization then provides you the courage and the ease she previously lacked.”
Discussing Perez’s bout with Thea Hail at the Great American Bash, he reflected, “Roxanne’s performance in that match was a turning point. From my perspective, a similar eureka moment occurred with Chase U. That encounter allowed her to come into her own as the champion. However, any move to the main roster, much like Giulia’s situation, is a drastic change, it’s a completely different universe.”
On the topic of transitioning to the main roster, Michaels commented, “The manner in which you handle this transition can have a significant impact on your success. If she’s able to maintain the confidence, assertiveness, and comfortability she currently exudes, and brings this to the main roster, I firmly believe she can make a successful run. A lot rides on how one manages to conduct oneself in those circumstances.”
