In 2005, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend, Sharmell Huffman, was part of a storyline with Kurt Angle that involved his fictitious obsession with her. Nowadays, Huffman expressed doubting that such a controversial plot would be accepted on air in an episode of the “Insight” podcast.

During that year, Angle’s character developed an extreme infatuation with Sharmell, and regularly demanded to engage in “beastiality sex” and confessed his so-called addiction to “gutter sl*ts”.

Sharmell responded to this edgy narrative during her recent podcast conversation, saying, “Kurt was shadowing me. Considering my novelty then, they just assigned me the role without me knowing who conceived that part. Nonetheless, I found it exceptional. Everyone is ultra-sensitive these days, but it didn’t trouble me at all. I thought it was fantastic.”

She further added, “It was unique, though I am skeptical about the acceptability of such a storyline currently. Most people are of the view that we can’t execute that now. That wouldn’t be acceptable these days. However, given that I knew it was strictly acting, it was fine by me. There exist some grave situations that mirror that which I absolutely don’t endorse. It was acceptable only as acting in my case.”

The 2005 story had Sharmell’s spouse and fellow wrestler, Booker T, vanquish Angle at the Judgment Day Pay-per-view event that year. Angle was subsequently transferred over to RAW in the WWE Draft.

Reflecting on the storyline, Angle has mentioned some regrets, but Booker T expressed no qualms during his podcast in 2022 as he commented, “Kurt Angle may feel sorry for the storyline because it hinted at intimacy and stalking. However, he never laid a hand on Sharmell even once. We were never in an unsafe situation.”
