The Prodigal Son may one day return to a WWE ring, but not without good reason. In an interview with Corey Graves on the After The Bell podcast, Shane McMahon discussed his current role as the ringmaster of RAW Underground as well as whether or not he’ll wrestle again.
On the RAW Underground front, Shane states that he has a lot of creative control over the segments and that he loves to see the athletic backgrounds of the WWE Superstars featured there stand out. He gets so excited about it that he sometimes forgets that he has a live mic.
“I was just like ‘Wow!’ I forget a lot of times that they keep my mic live, so I’m like ‘Oh! Oh!’ I’m just calling it. My sons told me, they’re like, ‘Dad, why are you always like ‘Oh! Oh!’? I was like, I didn’t realize I was doing it. I was just reacting to it.
As for stepping into the squared circle once again, Shane McMahon states that he would be more than willing if the end goal was to help younger talent become stars.
It’s not about me right now. It is about developing new talent or talent that is here and giving them a platform. If I can help out and have a good showcase with an up and coming talent, I love being able to do that, or an existing one…I still got a few left in me, I think.
The full podcast also features talk about his previous wrestling return against The Undertaker and a firm denial to talk about what was in his lockbox.
