Tony Khan, President of AEW, has often voiced his deep admiration for ECW. He periodically reflects on the time he attended ECW’s event The Doctor Is In 1996, where he saw Sabu and Rob Van Dam compete in a Stretcher Match.
Furthermore, Khan also has striking memories of Taz giving exceptional performances at the ECW Arena, as does his father, Shad Khan, who fondly remembers “The Human Suplex Machine.”
After the conclusion of AEW All In London in 2024, and during the media interaction, Khan took everyone down memory lane. He shared a heartwarming episode when Shad Khan, his father, ran across HOOK, son of Taz, at Arthur Ashe Stadium, recollecting his memories of witnessing Taz performing at the ECW Arena.
Khan reminisced, “I vividly remember my dad greeting HOOK and Taz in Arthur Ashe Stadium and turning to HOOK with this revelation. ‘There’s something I want you to know. Your father is one tough man. I accompanied Tony to the ECW Arena when he was a boy, and that place is a battlefield, the most hellish place I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. Believe it or not, your father is a genuinely tough man to be able to wrestle there.’
During the AEW All In London 2024 pay-per-view event that took place on Sunday, HOOK regained the FTW Championship by defeating Chris Jericho. This win marked HOOK’s third time capturing the FTW Championship, making him the pioneer in this feat.
