Fans are still talking about the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference on Thursday night, where it was announced that Cody Rhodes would challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40.
Rhodes was slapped by The Rock for the comments he made about their family. Now, Seth Rollins is without an opponent for his World Title. Rock vs. Reigns is still planned for Mania. He spoke with FOX News about the presser. Here are the highlights:
The Rock trying to get the main event spot at Wrestlemania:
“It’s just what happens when powerful people exert their power. They just think they do whatever they want and get away with it and that sucks. It just sucks. I don’t know any other way to put it. I guess it (resulted) in Cody getting what he wanted. We’ll figure out what’s next for the World Heavyweight title. But Cody said it best. It’s bulls—-. It feels pretty gross to me.”
Cody choosing Reigns:
“I sold Cody on this title because I believe in this title and I do think because of Roman Reigns’ lack of independence, for lack of a better term, that this title is more prestigious and means more,” he said. “Especially, going forward, if Roman Reigns keeps his title, this one is only going to get bigger. But I understand where he’s coming from. I never faulted him for wanting to finish the story – it meant so much to him. I understand why he made the decision, and it is what it is and that’s his prerogative as the winner of the Royal Rumble. I don’t know why those idiots thought that was their decision to make.”
Rock coming back as a member of the TKO board of directors:
“The last time he came around, I don’t like (CM) Punk but he did the same thing to Punk, kinda came in and took his main event and did it two years in a row with some very not-so-memorable matches with John Cena. But yeah, now coming back, on the board of directors, like I said man, it feels like gross. I don’t like it. I feel like we gotta do something about it. Just don’t know what that next step is going to be.”
The WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference has caused quite a stir among fans, as it was announced that Cody Rhodes would be challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the highly anticipated event. This unexpected turn of events has left Seth Rollins without an opponent for his World Title match. The press conference also saw a confrontation between Rhodes and The Rock, resulting in Rhodes being slapped by the legendary wrestler.
In an interview with FOX News, The Rock expressed his frustration with powerful individuals exerting their influence to get what they want. He believes that this behavior is unfair and does not sit well with him. Despite his disappointment, The Rock acknowledged that Cody Rhodes was able to secure the match he desired. As for the vacant World Heavyweight title, plans are being made to determine Rollins’ next opponent.
Cody Rhodes’ decision to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title was motivated by his belief in the prestige and significance of the title. Rhodes feels that Reigns’ lack of independence makes this title even more valuable. He understands why Reigns wanted to finish their story and respects his prerogative as the winner of the Royal Rumble. Rhodes also expressed his frustration with others trying to interfere in his decision-making process.
The Rock’s return as a member of the TKO board of directors has raised eyebrows and concerns among fans. This is not the first time he has returned to take the main event spot from other wrestlers, as he did with CM Punk in previous years. The Rock’s involvement in the board of directors feels unsettling to many, and they believe that action needs to be taken to address this situation. However, it remains unclear what steps will be taken to address these concerns.
