Plans change.

Last week on the Christmas SmackDown, WWE announced that Seth Rollins would make his return to the blue brand on the Jan. 1 edition. However, on the promotion’s website (as spotted by Cageside Seats), the former “Monday Night Messiah” is no longer listed as appearing and he wasn’t on the SmackDown trailer aired on RAW. The WWE on FOX Twitter account also deleted the original tweet echoing the announcement, so it appears to be off.

What is slated for WWE SmackDown this week is a special request by Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair vs. Bayley & Carmella, and a non-title match between Big E and Baron Corbin.

We’ll keep an eye on the situation as it develops. WWE has a habit of axing previously announced segments, which is certainly understandable during a pandemic, so this isn’t a huge surprise.
