It is time for another week of the Ultimate Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW. Who improved their stock from last week and who downgraded their position among the rest?
This set ranges from Monday (September 11) and to Sunday (September 17). This means that all the results and highlights from this week’s Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite, SmackDown, AEW Rampage, and AEW Collision will play a factor in the rankings.
If a wrestler has a (+) next to their name, then that means that they moved up the rankings from last week’s edition. When there is a (-) next to their name, then that means that they moved down from the rankings from last week. If there is nothing next to their name, then that means that they stayed at the same spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into this week’s Power Rankings for WWE and AEW!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Ilja Dragunov (NR)
Dragunov earned his title rematch for No Mercy against Carmelo Hayes by beating Wes Lee on NXT. The resilient star assuredly will put out another must-see match at No Mercy.
9. Seth Rollins (-6)
No in-ring action for Rollins this week, only a promo segment where his feud with Shinsuke Nakamura reached another episode. Rollins wanted to fight Nakamura then and there, but will instead get the match on next week’s Raw.
8. Asuka (NR)
Asuka is back and she returned to SmackDown with a fiery of her signature kicks and strikes. The former champion defeated Bayley one-on-one and will now get her title rematch for the WWE Women’s Championship against IYO SKY next week. Obviously, the match should end up being fantastic, as both women are two of the best the company has ever had. And who knows, maybe a surprise title change is in the works.
7. Alpha Academy (+2)
Alpha Academy interrupted Gunther’s Intercontinental Celebration, continuing to battle back against Imperium’s ways. For Chad Gable, another rematch with even higher stakes appears to be in the works, maybe at Fastlane. Gable also picked up a win on Raw, teaming with Tommaso Ciampa, beating Imperium (Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser).
6. Shinsuke Nakamura (NR)
The feud with Rollins continues. Nakamura sent Rollins a message by laying out Ricochet on Raw. His rematch with Rollins, hopefully the last match between the two, will happen next week.
5. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes didn’t wrestle but he did cut a promo in which he was interrupted by The Judgment Day, as one does. Despite the numbers not being in his favor, Rhodes laid out all members of The Judgment Day on Raw.
4. LA Knight (+2)
Another win for Knight as he once again toppled The Miz on SmackDown. What’s next for Knight? Maybe a future World Title match against Roman Reigns? Time will tell.
3. Gunther (-2)
The celebration for longest-Intercontinental championship reign in WWE history was short-lived. Gunther, and the rest of Imperium, were interrupted by Alpha Academy and then the tag team of Imperium took a loss.
2. Becky Lynch (+2)
There is a new NXT Women’s Champion! Lynch shocked Tiffany Stratton on NXT this week, not only winning her first NXT title, but also becoming a WWE Grand Slam Champion in the process. In my opinion, it was a good move to make this title change. It gives Lynch something to do before an eventual big match at WrestleMania in April.
1. The Judgment Day (+1)
Three wins this week for The Judgment Day. 2 wins on Raw, one in tag team match, and the other being a successful title defense by Rhea Ripley over Raquel Rodriguez, though the champ didn’t end the show standing tall with Nia Jax returning and laying her out. And Balor scored a victory over AJ Styles on SmackDown. The Judgment Day are everywhere to be found on WWE TV.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. “Hangman” Adam Page (NR)
Page is back collecting wins, this time, knocking off Brian Cage on Dynamite. Afterwards, he was confronted by Swerve Strickland and his group. Speaking of Swerve, Page will compete at WrestleDream, facing Strickland on October 1.
9. Christian Cage and Luchasaurus (-1)
The Grand Slam stage is set as both Cage and Luchasaurus will get their tag team match against Darby Allin and Sting. Dynamite was once again another display of Cage’s excellent and hilarious mic work, talking about Nick Wayne’s mom.
8. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara (NR)
Speaking of Grand Slam, whilst both of these men will square off against each other next week, the two had a very enjoyable duel back-and-forth on the mic. It was compelling, raw, and showed a lot of great character work between the two. Goes to show how played this relationship between the two has been.
7. Toni Storm (NR)
Storm is the #1 contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship, prevailing in a fatal-four way match on Dynamite. The over-dramatic former champion will now face her former ally, Saraya, for the title at Grand Slam next week. Storm’s work as of late has been all thumbs up and it would not be shocking if she adds another title reign to her overflowing resume
6. Konosuke Takeshita (-1)
Takeshita (and Don Callis) revealed their next piece of art. Takeshita will now look to take out Kenny Omega’s best friend, Kota Ibushi, at AEW WrestleDream.
5. Kris Statlander (+2)
Two successful title defenses against two of the most well-known AEW stars since its inception. First, Statlander fended off former champion Jade Cargill on Rampage in what was a great match, and more than likely the final AEW match for the latter. Next, Statlander, surprisingly to some, beat the hometown girl Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. on Collision in the first women’s main event of that show.
4. Ricky Starks and Big Bill (NR)
Whilst Bill was unsuccessful in becoming AEW International Champion on Dynamite, Starks pinned Bryan Danielson in tag team action on Collision. Starks and Danielson’s rivalry will continue on and I for one can’t complain.
3. Better Than You Bay Bay (-2)
No real big segments for MJF and Adam Cole this week, besides Joe making Cole pass out to end the night. Much of the focus will be next week for Grand Slam, where MJF defends his AEW World Championship against new #1 contender, Samoa Joe.
2. Jon Moxley
Another title defense in the books for Moxley, as he conquered through Big Bill. Moxley will now turn his attention back to what’s been a personal feud between him and Rey Fenix, as the two will go head-to-head for the AEW International Championship at Grand Slam Dynamite.
1. Samoa Joe (+2)
The new #1 is undoubtedly Samoa Joe. Not only is he insanely over right now, but he is also the #1 contender and will face MJF at Arthur Ashe Stadium, presumably in the main event. I wouldn’t complain if Joe became champion as he has continued to be a bright spot each week across all shows.
