In a crucial July 2021 match, Big E claimed victory over notable wrestlers like Drew McIntyre, John Morrison, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, Ricochet, Matt Riddle, and Seth Rollins, seizing the Men’s Money In The Bank briefcase. In a strategic move two months later, Big E used this win to uncrown Bobby Lashley, hence attaining the honorable WWE Championship title.
Recently, Big E joined Adrian Hernandez for an interview where he offered reflections regarding his conquest of the Money In The Bank briefcase, highlighting its significant role in propelling his individual WWE career.
Expressing his thoughts, Big E stated emphatically, “Ladder matches, in my opinion, are the most perilous and high-stakes ones. I’ve mentioned before that when I think about devastating incidents like Joey Mercury’s nose injury, I’m reminded of the real threats that are ever-present in these matches. Though all of us are striving to deliver memorable shows, there is an inherent love for the Money in the Bank match since it offers a fast-track ticket to the top. It could be a game-changer for someone struggling in their career or someone showing promising signs of growth. Winning this match served as a significant turning point in my journey. After spending a substantial part of my career in the midcard and tag teams, which I take immense pride in, especially for our achievements with the New Day, this victory opened new avenues for me as a solo player. Becoming a world champion because of it was a dream come true. The essence of our profession lies in the special moments that our audience helps create. The overwhelming affection and reaction I received while standing atop the ladder made me relive that moment again. Perched on top of the ladder, with the title just within my grasp, the memory is permanently etched in my mind. Overcoming the fear of heights and making sure to unhook the carabiners smoothly are part of the exhilaration. Standing on that high rung and experiencing the rush of adrenaline is a feeling I’ll never forget. I often wish to share this special feeling with others, showing how much this match has contributed to my career.”
Unfortunately, Big E sustained an injury during the March 11, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown. It has been more than two years since this member of The New Day was seen competing in the ring.
