In a recent episode of Sportskeeda’s podcast “WrestleBinge”, wrestling legend Scott Steiner expressed his views on AEW, stating that a competitive market is beneficial for the wrestling business. Scott Steiner said,
“I attempt to catch some bits whenever I can. My schedule doesn’t permit. It’s brilliant to have another platform for the guys to showcase their talents. A competitive atmosphere is always beneficial for the industry. However, there’s no denying that WWE is trending at the moment. They’ve successfully captured fan interest. That’s the pivotal point. Simply hosting matches isn’t enough. It doesn’t matter to the audience if they’re just random matches without a compelling storyline. When it’s just a haphazard fight between two wrestlers… No, it simply doesn’t command attention.”
Following the media scrum after the conclusion of ROH’s Death Before Dishonor event, Lee Moriarty shared how he was proposed an AEW contract by Tony Khan. Moriarty explained,
“Ring of Honor did approach me. This was during the onset of the pandemic. Things almost materialized, but due to certain conditions and lack of contact, it didn’t progress. I had a ring showdown with Orange Cassidy at an independent event a few days prior to an AEW event in Pittsburgh. This event facilitated my opportunity to participate in AEW in my hometown, where I wrestled with Dante Martin. I participated in another match in Chicago. A last-minute third match was arranged. I received a text at 4 am and without any hesitation, I drove down to Cincinnati, Ohio where I had a face-off with Daniel Garcia. After that match, I was offered a contract by Tony Khan the moment I walked off the stage. I always envisioned myself as part of Ring of Honor, but the prospect of being part of AEW also fascinated me. My ultimate goal was to be where the finest wrestling exists because that’s what drives my passion for professional wrestling. The sport and art that it encompasses”.
