Scott D’Amore recently had an interview with TVInsider where he opened up about his exit from TNA Wrestling earlier this year and the inception of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.

On February 7, it was made public by Anthem Sports & Entertainment that D’Amore was relieved of his duties. He was dismissed from his position as the President of TNA and was succeeded by Anthony Cicione.

Post his exit, D’Amore received accolades from TNA wrestlers he worked with, including Moose, Josh Alexander, and Jordynne Grace.

Below are some highlights from the interview:

In terms of his departure from TNA Wrestling, D’Amore said his second stint at Impact TNA was quite rewarding. When he and Don Callis initially took over, the company was in rough shape. Even after Don’s exit, their work was commendable. He was surprised by the termination of his contract. Although unhappy with Anthem Entertainment’s decision, he respects it as it is their prerogative. Despite his departure, D’Amore remains focused on his new venture, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.

On the topic of launching Maple Leaf Pro, D’Amore shared that he secured the rights from the Tunney family years ago from a desire to do more with it. It’s an endeavor to rekindle an notable brand that has been inactive too long. He envisions it as a platform for Canadian wrestlers to match up with the world’s best, while honoring wrestling’s Canadian heritage. Leveraging relationships built over decades in wrestling, D’Amore aims to create a fresh and exciting impact with Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.

As for bringing Mauro Ranallo back to wrestling, he lauded Ranallo as the finest play-by-play commentator in the history of combat sports. Being friends and having worked together for years, D’Amore said their collaboration was easy. He appreciates Ranallo’s passion and talent, and is eager to get started with him as the play-by-play announcer.
