Santos Escobar joined WWE in 2019 and spent time at the Performance Center before and during his run as the leader of Legado Del Fantasma in NXT.

During his appearance on the “Under the Ring” podcast, Escobar discussed the importance of the Performance Center, and how WWE’s training ground had a lot to offer him despite already having almost 20 years of experience in the sport when he arrived there. He said,

“You’ve got to be humble enough to allow the universe to teach you things every day. You got to be able to allow yourself to be surprised, and I think the Performance Center is just that.”

“When I got there I was 19 years in the business. On the surface, you might say, ‘Well, what are they going to teach you? If you’ve been doing this for 19 years, it means you know enough to survive 19 years,’ but in reality, the Performance Center is there for a reason. You got to check a lot of boxes and the Performance Center and NXT make sure that you check all those boxes so that when you’re finally called […] you’re ready for it.”

In a recent interview with Comedy Store Wrestling, Rocky Romero expressed his admiration for Shinsuke Nakamura, calling him the most successful Japanese wrestler in North America. He said,

“Nakamura is probably the most successful Japanese wrestler in North America, WWE specifically. Probably since Muta, even though Muta didn’t wrestle for WWE. Muta was super successful in WCW and NWA. I would say Nakamura’s probably the next [one or] probably even bigger in a way because the scale is bigger now. But they’ve barely scratched the surface of what they could do with him.”
