In a recent discussion on the “Insight” podcast, Samoa Joe discussed the injury which Tyson Kidd suffered from a Muscle Buster in 2015, describing it as the most regrettable episode in his professional journey.

This unfortunate occurrence resulted in Kidd’s neck injury which was life-threatening, subsequently inhibiting him from pursuing his wrestling career again.

Relevant highlights from the podcast are provided below:

Regarding whether he considered to use the move again post the injury, Joe stated: “No, and even now that probably remains the most significant remorse in my career that that occurred. [Chris: There’s nothing you could have done differently]. But that doesn’t alter the situation for Tyson. It doesn’t alter the scenario for a man who is probably one of the most ardent individuals in the realm of professional wrestling. For a person who possesses profound knowledge about it. WWE is lucky to have him. Even though he’s not in a physical role within the organization, his ability to choreograph wrestling matches, along with his agenting and producing skills are unmatched.”

Discussing if he felt something was off post hitting the move, he shared: “No, not at all. I didn’t notice any difference. It’s just when I swiveled around to pin and stood up, the only indication that something might be amiss was when I witnessed Cesaro’s concerned look. I know what Cesaro looks like when he’s worried, which led me to fear that something might not be right. Later, we retreated and he was taken to a hospital to get thoroughly examined. However, the whole circumstances surrounding it is something that still distresses me. It’s disappointing that he’s not out there being his effervescent self. He’s an impressive individual. When you talk about men who are expert producers, he’s going to be recognized as a key figure there if he isn’t already.”

On his apprehensions regarding the implementation of the move again, Joe stated: “Well, I didn’t intend to. It’s akin to when I resumed my action in NXT. I used it there. When I was promoted to the main roster, I stopped using it. I consciously tried to refrain from overusing it or making it a routine move. If he’s already having a rough day, I didn’t want him to catch that sight. Therefore, I made serious efforts to minimize its use as much as possible. This is for the simple reason that he’s not just my colleague, but a person for whom I have immense respect and concern. The last thing I wanted was to cause him to relive that painful episode.”
