Samoa Joe has been itching to return to a WWE ring for a long, long time.
The former NXT Champion recently appeared on the After The Bell with Corey Graves podcast and discussed his in-ring return as well as his upcoming NXT Championship match against Karrion Kross at NXT TakeOver 36. He stated that he’s excited about the new matchups he’ll be able to explore
“I’m excited about it,” said Joe. “Mainly because there’s so many fresh matchups there and a lot of things that were just hypothetical matchups that could go down in the realm of NXT. I’m also just excited to be working with NXT as a whole. From the talent side, to going out in the world to finding the next superstars for WWE, the entire breath of what I’m doing in NXT is extremely exciting to me and I’m looking forward to being back in the ring with all this talent I’ve heard all this stuff about and I can see if this hype is real.
Joe also previewed his class with Kross by acknowledging the champion’s dominance and vowing to “beat the brakes off him.” He then warned that he’ll “set some things right” when they finally clash in the ring.
“Karrion Kross without a doubt is a dominating force,” aid Joe. He’s run through everybody they put in front of him, he’s been an absolute beast of a champion. He hits hard, throws harder but I’m gonna to beat the brakes off him, I’m gonna put all the hands on him. I don’t know how I’m gonna do it, but it’s just gonna be a lot of pummeling and strikes to the head and face area, I’m probably gonna do the best not to wear out my right foot from whipping his ass with it all over the ring but we’ll have some fun and we’re gonna set some things right.”
