Current AEW TNT Champion and ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe was just recently talked to by Renee Paquette on The Sessions podcast.
The previous WWE star went over lots of elements of his profession, consisting of finalizing with AEW, his commentary stint in WWE, Michael Cole, and more.
You can take a look at some highlights from the podcast listed below:
On what made him wish to sign with AEW:“Oh, all the cash they tossed at me. Right away tossed all my morals away– no (laughs).”
On considering retiring after his 2nd WWE release:“I was legally considering hanging it up. You understand, for health factors. Still coming off the concussion and still handling the covert results of that. Returning in the ring healthy, transitioning back to a physical state where I can * do something * for a great amount of time and not wish to lose consciousness.”
On the concussion that truly put him on the rack:” [It was] on an industrial shoot, the table didn’t break like it was expected to. I generally captured 2 concussions extremely close together, which is horrible. “
On how doing commentary permitted him to get healthy: “I did take a year and a half off to do commentary, which assisted me enormously. I do not be sorry for taking that time. I would not alter it for anything. That permitted me to get healthy, get my mind back together. Return into a location where I felt great even doing anything physical. I recognize that if I would have hurried that, I undoubtedly would have not gone back to the ring at all. I more than happy that I dealt with that well in spite of wishing to get after it.”
On what he concentrated on as an analyst:“If anything, the hardest part about commentary is the male in your ear. You can vouch for that (laughs). Since he’s really exacting, it’s simply. He desires what he desires. No beef with that, I get it. When I was out there, I simply believed about what I would desire individuals to state about me. That was my primary centerpiece; if I’m so-and-so, how would I wish to be spoken about if I was on top, and I was battering a man, how would I desire that be explained? That was the frame of mind I took into it. I wished to improve whatever entertainer remained in that ring. I wished to improve how they appeared to the fan.”
