Ahead of the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view, Sami Zayn defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews in a match that featured some quick thinking by Zayn.
During their match – a contest that Zayn wasn’t too happy about having to participate in – Zayn and Crews clashed for a bit before things quickly got chaotic. Zayn was tossed outside of the ring by Crews, and ripped off the ring’s apron in the process. After staying down for a moment, Crews attempted to go and get Zayn, but was tripped down in the process. After knocking Crews down, Zayn proceeded to trap his leg in the metal framing of the ring, sliding back in just as the referee counted to ten to end the match. Crews wasn’t too happy about the loss, but Zayn clearly was, and quickly escaped up the ramp with the title.
