In a recent episode of the “Cheap Heat” podcast, wrestler Sami Zayn shared his interest in participating in John Cena’s farewell tour in 2025. Speaking about Cena, Zayn noted:

“John Cena is the one you anticipate to encounter in the ring. Budding professionals dream of an opportunity to share the ring with someone of his caliber. About 15 years ago, going toe-to-toe with Cena felt like an inaccessible dream.”

Meanwhile, the wrestling community is mourning the passing of Kevin Sullivan, a former WCW wrestler and booker, who left us at 74. Gabe Sapolsky took to Instagram to pay homage to Sullivan, a major influencer in his life and career. He recalled:

“The few moments I’ve spent with Kevin Sullivan since 1994 have had a profound impact on my professional journey, and in some ways, my personal life too. Coming across Florida wrestling featuring Sullivan during the early eighties was a major turning point for me.”

In a heart-warming retrospect of his early days in ECW in 1993, Sapolsky mentions how Kevin and his then-wife, Nancy, were among the first people who interacted with him – a memory that intimidated yet energized him as he stepped into the fascinating world of pro wrestling.

Over the years, he remembered Sullivan’s inspiring words – “one day you’ll be running the place” and how they gave him the nerve to challenge reality. He shared, “Every time I show a young man in our X Space some encouragement, I am reminded of Sullivan’s voice from the airport hotel lobby in 1993.”

Sapolsky also encouraged wrestling fans to watch a Kayfabe Commentaries video featuring him and Sullivan. He stated, “It was as much a learning curve for me as it was for him, even two decades later.”

Sharing a cherished photograph with Sullivan, he added, “The last time I saw Kevin was a few years back at a Red Sox game. The snapshot of us at Fenway Park combines my childhood admiration for the Red Sox and Kevin. It’s a keepsake I treasure.”

Concluding his tribute, he said, “Thank you for everything, sir. My heartfelt condolences to Kevin’s loved ones.”
