Major League Wrestling has big plans for El Jefe… and it appears we’ve seen the last of Salina de la Renta.
According to a new report from PWInsider.com, MLW has signed Luis Fernandez-Gil, who played Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground, to a “long-term deal” with the company. It was also noted that the character he debuted on MLW Fusion last night is still intended to be Dario Cueto and not a new one, and the post-credit scene he appeared in was filmed in secret last month in Los Angeles.
“Just like with Vice, we delivered on the hype with tonight’s season finale. We started this mystery storyline last June dropping breadcrumbs on Pulp FUSION and almost a year later,” MLW’s Court Bauer stated to PWInsider, “fans got the satisfaction of the return of one of wrestling’s truly great villains.”
While Cueto is coming to MLW, it’s also been confirmed that Salina de la Renta is in fact leaving the company, and last night’s appearance was intended to be her “swan song” with MLW. PWInsider.com is reporting MLW opted to finish things up with Salina and she will not be returning going forward.
Moving forward, Dario Cueto will be a regular part of MLW. The promotion will begin taping their next season on July 10 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
