During a recent dialogue on Covalent TV, renowned wrestler Rhino provided his perspective on mentoring upcoming talent and the significance of adapting during wrestling matches.
The following are excerpts from the conversation:
Expounding on his role in mentoring novice wrestlers, Rhino said, “I typically break down the fundamentals for them. This includes understanding their character, emphasizing their unique aspects, taking things one step at a time, and allowing things to evolve organically.”
Regarding the necessity of modifying matches based on audience reactions, Rhino stated, “It is vital, especially when dealing with wrestling audiences. They don’t hold back their feelings. Often, I tell people that the sport isn’t as heavily scripted as many perceive it to be. As a performer, you have to be attuned to what the fans want to see. Their cheers, boos, and reactions are communications of their preferences. Delivering what they want is where the real skill lies. As you grow in this profession, you begin to understand and act accordingly.”
In another separate interview on Covalent TV, ECW wrestling legend Sabu shared his opinions on the recent WWE NXT event that took place at the 2300 Arena. According to him, even though the WWE NXT brand houses talented wrestlers, the ECW nostalgia event fell short of expectations. Sabu stated, “In my opinion, it was uninspiring. Despite having a commendable array of wrestlers and being a good show, it was unsatisfactory as a throwback to the ECW era. The venue has changed, and it’s not the same anymore.”
He further added, “It doesn’t feel like a genuine reunion or a high-level event without the presence of either me or Sandman. I believe one, if not both of us, should be there.”
