Ryback Publicly Asks WWE To Release Trademark For Character Name

Ryback

Former WWE superstar Ryback took to social media on Saturday, where he publicly asked both Vince McMahon and the WWE to release the Ryback trademark back to him. In his plea, Ryback states that the company didn’t create the name, and also reveals that they are asking him to spend a reported $200,000 in order to get the rights to the name back.

Publicly asking @wwe @VinceMcMahon @TripleH to let the Ryback trademark go. It wasn’t created by them and trying to make someone spend nearly 200K to keep their legal name and brand is petty and unnecessary. Please move on and erase me from your history and programming. 🙏

Later in the tweet, Ryback once again asks the company to “move on” and requests that they “erase” him from their history. While it’s unlikely that WWE will do such a thing, it seems as if Ryback’s plan is to hopefully get enough people on his side that the company releases the trademark due to backlash. Whether or not that works is yet to be seen, though.
