Following the expiration of Goldberg’s contract with WWE last December, the 56-year-old legend publicly stated that WWE never bothered to book a retirement match for him.
However, it appears that Goldberg no longer has to worry about that as former WWE Superstar Ryback has his sights locked on him.
Ryback, who has been out of action since 2018, challenged Goldberg to a retirement match. The Big Guy tweeted,
“I will be cleared this summer to officially return to wrestling. I challenge @Goldberg in my return to a Retirement Match. #Ryback™️ #Hungry #FeedMeMore.”
Ryback previously expressed his desire to battle AEW wrestler Wardlow upon his impending return to the ring.
Fans have been drawing comparisons between Goldberg and Ryback for over a decade, often calling the two stars the mirror-image of one another. In case you didn’t already know, WWE indeed wanted to portray Ryback as the second coming of Goldberg, however, those plans failed miserably and the former Intercontinental Champion was released from his WWE contract in 2016.
