Rusev Reportedly Dealing With Back Issue

Rusev was pulled from the Super Showdown lineup and it appears to be due to an injury.
PWInsider.com is reporting Rusev is dealing with some kind of back issue, which led to him being removed from the Tuwaiq Trophy Gautlet Match on Thursday’s show. As seen on RAW last night, the Bulgarian Brute was replaced in the match by Rey Mysterio. Rusev was not at RAW in Winnipeg last night and he is no longer scheduled to travel with WWE to Saudi Arabia for Super Showdown.
The Tuwaiq Trophy match will now feature AJ Styles vs. R-Truth vs. Erick Rowan vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer recently commented on Rusev’s contractual status with the company, noting that the two sides were still working out issues for a potential new deal. It was noted that while he has continued to appear on events, this was due to having “plenty of time” left on his contract and not a sign that things had been resolved.
