On Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns opened the show for a promo segment ahead of their ‘Tribal Combat’ match at WWE SummerSlam 2023. Both men exchanged some really harsh words, before Jey Uso vowed to defeat Roman Reigns, and become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and the new Tribal Chief come August 5.
Meanwhile, the main event saw Uso go one-on-one with Grayson Waller. Jey Uso looked dominant throughout the match before Waller took over briefly as Roman Reigns, flanked by Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa, made his way to the arena midway through the match.
Back from commercial, Reigns was sitting on a leather chair on the entrance ramp. Meanwhile, Jey Uso fought back from underneath before landing a Spear and an Uso Splash for the 1-2-3.
Solo Sikoa jumped Jey Uso immediately following the match. Solo went for the Samoan Spike, but Jey avoided it and took him out with a Superkick. As Reigns rushed toward the ring, Jey caught him with another Spear. Jey headed to the top rope but was soon taken out by Solo.
Reigns finally recovered and signaled for the “Samoan Spike-Spear” tandem maneuver. After having taken out Jey, Reigns grabbed his gold belt and mocked Jey before signaling for and landing another hellacious “Samoan Spike-Spear.” Reigns celebrated with his gold belt as SmackDown went off the air.
