During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, the reigning Universal Champion commented on Lesnar’s return at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. “The Head of the Table” stated that “The Beast Incarnate” wants to be part of what the champion’s ongoing elevation of the title, the SmackDown brand and WWE itself.
“I think he wanted to get the best look possible at what’s going on here, the most dominant Universal Champion to ever do this thing,” said Reigns. “I think he sees the Island of Relevancy just like John Cena did. He’s just coming with like a farmer/butcher outlook as opposed to being the Hollywood guy. But yeah it just goes to show all this work, this foundation of greatness that I’ve been laying down, what the Bloodline’s been doing, continually showing everybody that we’re number one.
“It’s really just to put themselves in the conversation with me, to amplify everything, but there ain’t really anybody out there that can compete with what we’re doing. Between me and my cousins, the wise man, we come together and we’re putting together greatness right now. We’re raising the bar and lifting the standard, and I think Brock Lesnar, like everybody else, in this industry, they want to be a part of that.”
While Reigns prepares for a likely showdown with Lesnar, he scored an impressive win over Cena on Saturday night. During the interview, “The Tribal Chief” made it clear that he did exactly what he told everyone he’d do, and now he’s simply moving on to the next one.
“I went out and delivered, took action on the words that I put out there and what I was manifesting, and did what I always do,” said Reigns. “I go out there and win, I defend, I continue to represent my family and keep us on a pedestal above everybody else.
“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a big one, but for me the next win is always the biggest win, you know what I’m saying? So yeah it’s onto the next one.”
