On Tuesday, profound sadness hit the WWE realm with the news of the passing of Sika Anoa’i, a tried and tested icon in the world of wrestling and a member of WWE’s Hall of Fame. Reverent to his legacy, Sika marked his exit at 79.
Sika was the proud progenitor to five children, including the celebrated Roman Reigns and the late Matthew Tapunu’u, fondly remembered by his ring name, Rosey. Sika’s death was one of tranquility, happening on an early Tuesday morning.
In the aftermath of his passing, a mourning Roman Reigns graced Twitter with a heartfelt tribute to his recently-deceased father. Reign’s touching eulogy can be read below:
“My family and I are forever grateful for the incredible support we’ve received in honor of my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, a legend who will eternally stand in history as one half of The Wild Samoans tag team. His influence pervaded every inch of our family life and we are eternally indebted to him for the foundations he laid for us. The gaping hole his passing has left can never be replenished, but we, his daughters and I, are resolved to carry his legacy with utmost honor and respect.
You’ll always be remembered, Dad. You were our pillar of strength. We love you.”
Our deepest condolences extend to all close friends and family members of Sika Anoa’i.
