Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio met in the ring during tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown, as the two stepped into the Hell in a Cell with the WWE Universal Championship on the line. In another dominant effort, Reigns retained his title, but a post-match development might have been even sweeter than the victory.

In a match between two legendary superstars, Mysterio had plenty of chances to come out on top, including an incredible sequence that saw Mysterio hit a huge 619 on Reigns late in the match. Mysterio then proceeded to get some huge shots on Roman with a chair before he nailed two splashes off the top rope. Unfortunately for Mysterio, Reigns kicked out of this rally, and the writing was on the wall. “The Head of the Table” took control, and he never looked back.

At the end of the match, Reigns lifted Mysterio up and powerbombed him over the ropes and into the wall of the cell. Back inside the ring, Reigns locked in a modified version of the guillotine submission hold, and he choked Mysterio out.

After the match, Jimmy Uso – who had told Reigns earlier in the night that he had his back – came down to the ring and lifted his hand up, acknowledging his cousin as the champion in the process. It now seems that both Jimmy and Jey Uso have fallen in line by Reigns’ side.
