Backstage, Mike Bennett finds Matt Taven writhing in page backstage. He’s the victim of an attack from an unknown assailant, and Bennett helps Taven to the trainer’s room ahead of their ROH World Tag Team Championship Match tonight. It’s worth noting that shattered glass surrounded Taven’s body on the ground, possibly pointing toward the Beer City Bruiser’s involvement in the assault.
Pure Rules Match: Fred Yehi vs. Rocky Romero
Before the match, Fred Yehi questions the meaning of purity and vows to be himself regardless of the expectations of Pure Rules. Romero gets a special entrance video in which he raps his own music. In a promo, Romero says he wants to climb into the rankings, and he plans to do so by making Yehi tap out.
The two competitors feel each other out with technical holds. Yehi wrenches Romero’s neck and targets his knee. The match is a stalemate early, as neither man can gain the decisive edge. Romero and Yehi continue to battle for position, and a slam gives “The SavageWeight” the upper hand. Yehi stomps Romero’s hand and blasts him with two chops.
Yehi twists Romero’s arm, lifts him up and slams him down. Romero catches Yehi with a kick to the arm, followed by an arm-breaker to gain some breathing room. The New Japan Pro-Wrestling star hones in on Yehi’s arm, but “The SavageWeight” locks in the Koji Clutch out of nowhere. Romero escapes, but a backhand knocks him down. Romero nearly gets the win with an arm-bar, but Yehi reaches the ropes. A stiff uppercut rocks Yehi, but he savagely sends Romero crashing to the mat off the second rope. Yehi goes for the Koji Clutch, but Romero escapes. Romero continues to target Yehi’s arm, but “The SavageWeight” drills Romero with two nasty strikes. Yehi makes Romero tap out to clinch the victory with less than 20 seconds remaining.
Winner: Fred Yehi

Backstage, in the trainer’s room, Bennett tries to convince Taven to reschedule their title match, but the former world champion vows to keep fighting so The OGK can reclaim the gold they lost five years ago.
