Robert Roode recently spoke with Comic Book about his return to the world of WWE, where the superstar was questioned about his past stint in NXT and what he hopes to do with his newfound chance in the ring. According to Roode, he’s after a championship, but is also open to one day returning to NXT if it makes sense.
When asked about what NXT means to Roode, the superstar praised the brand, saying that being able to help grow the brand was something that he loved. “NXT was a great spot for me,” he said. “When I first came to WWE, I was able to be a part of that brand early on, and do my part and try to really grow that brand, and had the opportunity to be their champion, and to be on top, and to main event TakeOvers.”
Roode was also asked about his hopes for his current stint on Monday Night RAW, to which Roode’s goals were very simple. “That was just a great experience and the brand itself has now grown even larger. So wherever the job takes me, I’m going to be there and I’m going to do everything I can to be a guy that the brand can lean on, and to be in the mix, and to take every opportunity that is given to me and make the best of it. So whether that’s on Raw, whether that’s on SmackDown, or whether that’s on NXT, I’m going to do everything I can to stand out and to work my way towards being a champion again.”
Clearly, Roode is ready to try and compete for a championship, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can rise in the ranks to one day be one of the top dogs for WWE once again.
