Rob Terry says it was short-lived but he enjoyed his time as a bro.
Terry recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of the premiere of Generation Iron: Natty 4 Life, a new film documenting the life of a professional bodybuilder. Terry is featured in the film to tell his story about being a natural bodybuilder and also took some time to look back on his professional wrestling career with TNA Wrestling, which included a run as “Robbie T” alongside Robbie E.
Robbie E originally started in TNA as a Jersey Shore parody with “Cookie” at his side but ended up needing to hire security in the form of Terry. The newly-renamed Robbie T doesn’t recall who exactly pitched the new gimmick but he had nothing but good things to say about his partner—even if he started saying ‘bro’ a lot more. Terry says he enjoyed getting to branch out into comedy a bit more and says they had really good chemistry with each other, but maybe it ended before they really reached their full potential.
“I don’t know who pitched what and I don’t know how it happened but it just happened and I was with the guy. All I remember is I had a Welsh accent before I was with him and then when I was with him I started talking and saying ‘bro’ seven times in a sentence because of that guy. Such a great guy, I really keep in contact with him as much as I can. Obviously he’s with NXT now and he came down to my neck of the woods here so we could hang out and talk, but it was just a really good time for me.
“Like you said, it was a little bit more comedy but I absolutely loved it. We both fed off of each other and we had some great ideas, and that was just another thing that I really feel like it might have ended a little bit too soon. There could have been a lot more mileage that we got out of that, we just had a great time and I feel like we had good chemistry together. We were able to work on a lot of things and bounce off of each other. We had a great time.”

Terry spoke more about how different it from the other characters he played and admitted he did initially have some reservations about it working out. Terry said he wasn’t sure how he would fit in the role but they got very comfortable as it went on, adding that it ended just as they were finding their groove.
“It was different for me to have that because I knew the type of character he was and I knew the type of character that I was. At first, I really couldn’t see that working out, and when that was first passed on to me, like ‘hey, here’s what we’re doing now with you guys…’ I was a little bit [reluctant] because I don’t know where I’m going to fit into this. But like you said, the more we started to go along with it, it was just a natural evolution of things we could do and what we wanted to do. We’d talk about things we wanted to do and then it got changed from underneath us, pretty much. It was what it was.”
Now known as Robert Stone in NXT, Terry said the former Robbie E is a talented performer and agreed that now fans get to see what he can do in a managerial role.
“He gets it. He gets it and he’s going to do really well. I always keep an eye out for him and I look forward to watching him, he’s doing really good things right now.”
