Did WWE wait too long before pulling the trigger on Roman Reigns’ exceptionally popular heel turn?

After years of being pushed as a clean-cut babyface (earning the backlash of fans) Reigns turned heel in 2020 and re-established himself on programming as the ‘Tribal Chief.’

Given how well Reigns’ heel turn has gone, many believe the turn should have happened years ago, a notion Road Dogg rejected on his “Oh You Didn’t Know” podcast. He said,

“No, I don’t think so [when asked if WWE waited too long.] You gotta let stuff sit, you gotta let stuff simmer. I know that’s unpopular in today’s day and age, where I can get whatever I want, and I can get it right now.

“Sometimes you gotta sit on this, and see which way the wind blows. Boy, it blew in the right direction, because look [at] where we stand now, and where he stands now — as an individual and superstar.”

Reigns’ heel turn has seen the Head of the Table dominate as Universal Champion for over 1,000 days, and unify that title with the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38.

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion will be on tomorrow night’s episode of SmackDown to confront his cousin Jey Uso.
