Speaking recently on his “Oh… You Didn’t Know?” podcast, Road Dogg suggested that the New Age Outlaws would have been worthy challengers in their prime for Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Road Dogg explained the similarities that exist between the two teams and how the four individuals approach the business in a similar fashion. He said,
“I don’t live in yesterday, Jack. I live in today. So I want an opportunity at those Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. But I want me and Billy in our prime. I want us then, I want us in ’98 vs. Kevin and Sami now, and I’ll tell you why. Kevin and Sami can both go. They go at it. If you ever watch their matches — if you ever watch Kevin work with Gunther, he ain’t scared of a lick. They will lay stuff in. That’s exactly where me and Billy were in ’98, is young and hungry and willing to find out. We were willing to eff around and [find out]. 1998 Outlaws vs. I’d say they’re in their prime right now, but they probably are physically a little past that, to be quite honest with you, and I don’t want to rip them off. I want them in their prime, too. That’s right up me and Billy’s alley. I want to be heels when we do it, too.”
In a recent interview with “Haus of Wrestling,” Mr. Stone discussed his work in WWE NXT, stating that he is more into managing other talents than wrestling in the ring.
Stone last wrestled in February of this year, and most of his work recent work consists of managing other wrestlers. Stone said,
“If I gotta lace up my … now it wouldn’t even be wrestling boots, maybe wrestling shoes? Or like dress shoes turned into wrestling boots? Whatever it would be that I would have to lace up, if I had to lace them up one time a year, maybe this body could still, kind of, hold up to that. I’m more focused on getting guys to the world title picture and pushing them to the moon as opposed to pushing myself. If I gotta do it once in a while, I will. It would be cool, you know, I have six-year-old twins. I think they would get a kick out of watching me just get destroyed and beat up and thrown around the ring.”
