Jack Perry has been indefinitely suspended for his involvement in the backstage altercation with CM Punk at AEW All In 2023.
While Punk and Ace Steel have been fired from AEW, Perry’s future remains up in the air at this point.
The brawl allegedly took place after Perry used real glass during his FTW Title match against HOOK at All In 2023, and took a shot at Punk by telling him to “cry me a river” by looking into the camera. This referenced rumors that Punk barred Perry from using real glass on an episode of AEW Collision.
On a recent edition of his “Oh You Didn’t Know?” podcast, Brian “Road Dogg” James criticized Perry for the infamous brawl, and claimed that the former Jungle Boy has a “small-ball mentality.” Road Dogg said,
“It’s just small-ball. It’s small-ball mentality. There’s not enough people meeting you at the curtain when you say stuff like that. It’s small-ball mentality. Camaraderie is the best thing about the business. Not money, not the wrestling — all that’s really cool — but man, the best part about it is hanging out with the boys and having a good time. Yesteryear … it wasn’t crazy to see a fight, but that don’t happen nowadays … People go on the internet and say whatever they want and don’t get punched in the face.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also noted that the backstage politics and backstabbing in AEW are ruining the camaraderie.
