RJ City was consoled by actor Paul Reubens after WWE passed on him, the AEW star has revealed.
Reubens, best known for his role as the erratic Pee-Wee Herman, died this week and tributes from the wrestling world have been pouring in.
On Twitter, RJ City recalled a touching conversation with the beloved actor following a rejection by WWE.
When wwe said no, Paul Reubens spent an hour on the phone with me.
He told me how not getting SNL led to the Pee Wee Herman Show. He told me to take my frustration and do something with it – the blessing of not being with everyone is doing what they can’t. He changed my life.— RJ City (@RJCity1) August 1, 2023
Reubens (as Pee-Wee Herman) served as the guest host of Monday Night RAW in 2010 and appeared in a segment with The Rock at WrestleMania 27 the following year.
