Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently interviewed WWE NXT superstar Rinku Singh. Mackey recaps how the up-and-coming prospect won the “Million Dollar Arm” reality show, which eventually earned him a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates.Though injuries derailed Singh’s baseball career, as Mackey describes, Singh landed a spot at the WWE 2017 tryout in Dubai, signed with the company in 2018 and has been honing his craft ever since. Per Mackey, Singh compared the process of working his way up the WWE ladder to his journey in the Pirates’ developmental system. “’On a daily basis, we as humans have so many things and thoughts in our mind,'” said Singh via Mackey. “‘One way to really focus for me is to take notes. I did that with the Pirates. It’s been a constant in my life.’”

Likewise, that process overlaps with getting coached in both careers; Singh’s time as a baseball player prepared him for the lessons he’s learning in the Performance Center. “’When I hear their feedback, I always go back and study it,'” said Singh via Mackey. “‘I don’t know what you call it. I’ve just always been comfortable studying something and doing it over and over again.'”

As Singh has gained experience, he said he feels more acclimated to the wrestling ring. “’When I put on the [baseball] uniform, I was a totally new human,’”said Singh via Mackey. “’Now I feel like I did when I would put a baseball uniform on. It’s game time. There’s new energy. I’m ready to go out there and perform.’”
