WWE legend and Hall of Fame inductee, Rikishi, has publicly voiced his disapproval with WWE’s manner of using his son, Jey Uso in the ring. He’s seeking fan backing to help Jey secure a title shot at WWE SummerSlam 2024, expressing his dissatisfaction over his son’s failure to secure the 2024 Men’s Money In The Bank briefcase.
Jey Uso took a turn in his career in 2020, turning into a single wrestler and clashed with Roman Reigns, forming the revolutionary faction ‘The Bloodline’. After Jey disassociated from The Bloodline, his popularity boosted, and he emerged as one of WWE’s most loved heroes, leading merchandise sales for the company in recent times.
The WWE seems to be focusing on a love-story plot involving Uso and Rhea Ripley, an aspect Rikishi has shown resistant towards. On a fresh episode of his podcast called “Over The Top”, Rikishi aired his worries about the implications this could have on Jey’s personal life.
Keeping his words exact, Rikishi said, “At Summerslam, where’s Jey Uso? ‘I don’t know. Let’s write a plot that he likes Mami.’ Mami? Is that the best the scriptwriters could do? Put him in a romantic plot with Mami? What’s the objective – to disrupt his marital life? Since you guys can’t create a good storyline, what’s going to happen now? I don’t want to even think about you guys suggesting they kiss on air during Raw. That should absolutely not happen.”
