The popularity of Jey Uso has skyrocketed due to his considerable tenure as one-half of The Usos tag team, alongside his sibling, Jimmy. Towards the end of 2020, Jey embarked on a solo venture which saw him enter a storyline dispute with Roman Reigns before forming The Bloodline faction.
With Jey branched out from The Bloodline the previous year, he has managed to solidify his position as one of WWE’s leading “babyfaces”, driving merchandise sales for the company in the preceding months. Notwithstanding his appearances in prestigious matches and main events, Jey has been unable to break through to any significant triumphs.
Noteworthy among his losses are a defeat to GUNTHER in the running for the Intercontinental Title on RAW in February and a setback to Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Backlash: France. Uso’s defeat by GUNTHER in the semifinals of King Of The Ring 2024 also stands out on his list of losses.
While Jey successfully acquired a spot in the 2024 Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match, he fell short of securing the briefcase. WWE Hall of Famer and The Usos’ father, Rikishi, has implored supporters to back Jey in his quest for a title shot. Rikishi took to social media to circulate a video featuring Michael Cole and Pat McAfee expressing admiration for Jey’s entrance. He subsequently called on fans to encourage WWE to give Jey another shot at the title.
On his Twitter page, Rikishi posted: “MAIN EVENT STATUS #YeetMan Where’s is title shot? #stopplayin @Wwe Universe back him up! #MainEventJey LFG !!!🔥”.
