Riddle has had a contentious relationship with Goldberg in the past, as “The Original Bro” has criticized the WWE Hall of Famer’s in-ring skills. The two men had a heated confrontation at WWE SummerSlam in 2019, but it seems like they’ve buried the hatchet recently.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Riddle explained that his tendency to talk trash is just part of who he is; he has a legitimate background as a UFC fighter, and he’s open to letting anyone test him. He then explained that generating buzz by calling out Goldberg, among others, is part of his job because it motivates people to watch the product. Riddle noted that this pattern can rub people the wrong way, and while it initially caused a problem with Goldberg, the legend has seemingly come around after they had a conversation on the way back from WWE Crown Jewel.

“That’s my job, that’s what I do. And it rubs some people the wrong way,” said Riddle. “But at the end of the day, even Bill [Goldberg] and maybe one day a certain Beast, they come to understand what I’m trying to do.

“Bill and I had a conversation. It was like ‘Bill, I’m sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way’ on the way back from Saudi Arabia. We were on the plane, had a couple of cocktails. I’m not saying we’re best friends, but we are doing way better than we were.”

“The Original Bro” also pointed out that Goldberg has worked longer matches this year, whereas Riddle one criticized him for consistently putting on short bouts.

“I think just us talking and seeing him work [longer matches this year], you just get to know somebody and understand them,” said Riddle. “He’s like me; if you just listen to the dirt sheets or watch me do interviews, you might hate me [laughs]. But in real life, I’m a pretty nice guy. I talk crap, but that’s just to drum up interest. He realises that – I think we’re all good.”
