The fifth-year celebration of AEW Dynamite commenced with an explosive match between Will Ospreay and Ricochet vying for the AEW International Championship, however, spectators hoping for a solid victor were met with frustration.
In a predominantly balanced face-off – with both wrestlers dominating at different intervals, the battle came to an abrupt end. Remarkably, each wrestler had their shoulders pinned to the mat simultaneously. In accordance with wrestling rules, referee Bryce Remsburg concluded the match as a draw.
Evidently, the unexpected outcome was not well-received by the audience on-site, nor Ospreay and Ricochet, who requested for the battle to resume.
After a moment of suspense, it was declared that the match would be granted additional time.
Sadly, not far into the resumed match, Konosuke Takeshita arrived and launched an assault on both participants, resulting in another inconclusive match.
The commentators immediately questioned whether Takeshita’s interference was a spontaneous act driven by envy, or if it was orchestrated by Don Callis, who had shown up earlier in the evening announcing he would depart the arena with Kyle Fletcher.
What becomes of this situation in AEW will be closely followed. Will we see a three-sided contest at AEW WrestleDream? Is Takeshita next in line for a title shot while Ricochet barely missed out? We look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments below!
