In a recent episode of the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Ricochet expressed his thoughts about his absence from WWE, as well as WWE’s decision to not let him triumph over Bron Breakker before his departure from the company.
Here are some standout points from the podcast:
On his absence from TV: “I believe they were approaching it from an open-ended perspective at the time. There was no agenda to oust me. Honestly, I think they wanted to keep options open because there were talks still ongoing. However, we didn’t reach a decision so it simply ended like that. I could’ve possibly signed something and made a return. It wasn’t a malicious move on their part.”
On his loss against Bron Breakker: “To clarify, I’ve never been victorious. So if I had won and left, it would have been weird. Secondly, they just introduced Bron Breakker to Raw, intending to establish him as a significant threat with nefarious intentions. That’s where I come in – taking the hits was always my role. Bronson Reed, Shinsuke doesn’t matter the opponent, I was there to take their move. It’s a mixed blessing and I take responsibility for that.”
Will Ospreay, another wrestler, took the opportunity to voice on Twitter the inspiration he gathered from a 2011 match between Ricochet and PAC for Dragon Gate. He stated,
“I recall how, during my earliest days of training at the Resistance Gallery for LSLL, I showed this match to my trainers, Greg and Garry. I told them, ‘this is the wrestling style I aspire to’. It was not more than 2 years later when I had the opportunity to wrestle Ricochet in Sittingbourne.”
