Wrestler Ricky Starks has revealed that his hiatus from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been mentally challenging, nearly eight months after his last bout organized by promoter Tony Khan.
His latest match took place on the 30th of March, during AEW Collision. In that event, he was teamed with Big Bill, unfortunately losing to Top Flight.
Since that fight, Starks has not been approached for any more bouts, although he is physically fit and has received medical clearance for wrestling.
On an episode of the “Insight” podcast, Starks was forthright about his absence from AEW shows, stating,
“I have been maintaining my physical fitness, remaining active in the ring too. In spite of travelling and dealing with necessary routines, I’m still in control. It’s such a mental struggle for me because I know that I’m completely capable, physically and mentally fit.”
Rumors circulated in August that several people in AEW were under the impression that Starks was contemplating leaving the company. This has supposedly played a part in the decision to sideline him from televised matches.
In a recent GCW event, Starks expressed his discontent. The previously titled FTW Champion was also seen backstage at AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event.
