Speaking on the current episode of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair reviewed his only run with the Intercontinental Championship throughout his time in WWE. In 2005, ‘‘ The Nature Boy ‘won the Intercontinental Championship from Carlito at the Unforgiven pay-per-view occasion.
Talking to co-host Conrad Thompson, Flair remembered being fined $5,000 for declining to take a photo with the Intercontinental Championship title belt following his win. He exposed that WWE still does not have a studio photo of him positioning with the belt.
You can take a look at some highlights from the podcast listed below:
On WWE not having a studio photo of him as Intercontinental Champion: ” They still do not have a [studio] image of me with the Intercontinental belt. It drives them insane? I stated, ‘I’m not taking an image with the Intercontinental belt’ therefore they fined me 5 thousand dollars. And I informed them. ‘When you men are so starved for skill, that you’ve got to fine a 55-year-old man for not taking an image with the Intercontinental belt, you’ve got a developmental issue with skill.'”
On if he felt the IC Title was an action down for him: ” No no no. It wasn’t that. I simply didn’t wish to remove my t-shirt anymore than I needed to. I’m speaking about vanity. It wasn’t the belt; I imply that was remarkable having the belt. That’s a misunderstanding.”
On why he truly declined to get an image clicked: ” I simply didn’t wish to remove my t-shirt anymore than I needed to. Guy, I was ducking and diving. Paying Kevin Dunn off to shoot me at various angles.”
Ric Flair’s sole run with the Intercontinental title would end in February 2006 when he lost the title to Shelton Benjamin on Monday Night RAW.
