Former wrestling champion, Ric Flair, was recently a guest on the popular podcast, “Busted Open Radio”. The discussion ranged across several topics, one of which was his current relationship with All Elite Wrestling.
Flair, commonly known as “The Nature Boy,” mentioned that he had put forth an idea to change the turn of events in Sting’s retirement match. However, there has been no response to his suggestion. Flair explained,
“I proposed an alternate ending for the match. Their reaction was rather puzzled, as though I’d suggested seven different things….I don’t think Tony (Khan) was aware that I have been on blood thinners. I’ve been dealing with that sh*t for years. I’ve had a blood clot since 2012. Tony repeatedly reminded me not to harm myself. My idea involved the fighters repeating their old match, but with a twist. Instead of leaving me on the floor, they’d keep me on the periphery the whole time. At the end, when Sting is alone, I would attack Sting, he’d perform a massive move on me, put the scorpion (death lock) on me, recreating our start 31 years ago. It would have not only stirred the crowd, it would have turned me into a villain, giving me a new direction. Nowadays, it’s hard for fans to see me as a negative character.”
In further conversations, he said, “I haven’t received a reply from them since. They said ‘Ric, that’s a brilliant idea. We’ll get in touch with you later.’”
